Jason Cyster, Ph.D.,
University of California, San Francisco

Dr. Cyster is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and an Investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at UCSF. His primary research interests are focused on defining molecular cues that guide leukocyte migration into secondary lymphoid organs. He is also examining self-tolerance mechanisms promoting autoreactive B cell elimination within lymphoid organs.

Roger M. Freidinger, Ph.D.,
Medicinal Chemistry Consultant

Dr. Freidinger retired from Merck Research Laboratories in 2005 after a 30 year career. He was most recently Executive Director, Medicinal Chemistry. His research activities have focused on the chemistry and medicinal chemistry of peptides, peptidomimetics, small molecule ligands for receptors, and enzyme inhibitors encompassing several therapeutic areas. Honors have included the Vincent du Vigneaud Award, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Chemical Society Ralph Hirschmann Award in Peptide Chemistry. Dr. Freidinger was President of the American Peptide Society from 2003 - 2005. He was a member of the NIH Bio-organic and Natural Products Chemistry Study Section and several other advisory boards.

Rabindra Tirouvanziam, Ph.D.

Rabindra Tirouvanziam, Ph.D.
Emory University

Dr. Tirouvanziam is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Cystic Fibrosis Research, within the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University. Before joining Emory, he has held long-standing research positions at the CNRS (France) and at Stanford University School of Medicine(USA).  His research interests are granulocyte development and function, mucosal immunity and chronic human disease. Dr. Tirouvanziam has led efforts to redefine the fate of neutrophils in the fatal disease cystic fibrosis (CF) and served as principal scientist on phase 1 and 2 clinical trials in CF and autism. His engineering interests are in the discovery of biological endpoints and devices and their deployment in the field to enable better immuno-inflammatory monitoring at the clinic and at home. In this area, Dr Tirouvanziam’s notable contributions include the discovery of neutrophil- and basophil-based blood assays for CF and allergy.

Robert P. Kimberly

Robert P. Kimberly, MD
University of Alabama Birmingham

Dr. Kimberly is the Senior Associate Dean for Research at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical School. He is a Professor of Clinical Immunology, Rheumatology and Director of the Comprehensive Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Autoimmunity Center (CAMAC). His research focuses on experimental investigations of receptors, their biologies and their polymorphisms and identification of important risk factors underlying immunologic diseases and autoimmunity. Dr. Kimberly was one of five researchers picked by the NIH and invited by the White House to answer questions from audience members on a, multi-site, UAB-led national study on finding a genetic link to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in lupus patients. He was the 2008 recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Award, the UAB Academic Health Center’s most prestigious faculty award. Dr. Kimberly received an A.B. degree from Princeton University, M.A. degree from the University of Oxford (England) and his M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School.
